14. Back Beach

Back Beach is an estimated name, indicating the location, when referring to Front Beach. If Front Beach is also known as Tam Duong Beach – find the sun, in the Northwest, then Back Beach is located in the Southeast, right on the sunrise on Vung Tau Peninsula.

Back Beach has also been known as Thuy Va Beach since about 30 years of the 20^th century. Thuy Van is a mountain in Long Hai that can be seen far away from Back Beach. Thuy Van also means “floating cloud”; may be from the longest and most beautiful beach of Vung Tau city, people can freely watch the clouds in the sky, so this is called the beach of gentle clouds, floating high above.

Back Beach has a length of more than 8 km, from the foot of Small Mountain to Cua Lap, with clear blue sea water, poetic scenery with the right side is Hon Ba floating between the sea and Hai Dang mountain with countless bat caves hidden in the cliffs; on the left is a vast and cool poplar forest, hugging the heart of the two largest tourist facilities in Vung Tau, which are Paradise and Cap Saint Jacques entertainment areas; looming in the poplar forest are stilt houses of simple but unique architecture which is both cozy and fully equipped. Staying at stilt houses in the highlands and swimming in Vung Tau Back Beach is truly a great attraction.

For those who love the bustling atmosphere of the city, Back Beach is also a great choice because in front is the deep blue East Sea, behind is Thuy Van Boulevard with a large number of bustling restaurants, hotels, entertainment areas, and streets. Back Beach is also an ideal place to watch the sunrise or sunset on the sea. Many couples also choose this place to take wedding photos or many families choose Back Beach as a weekend vacation stop.

For those who are a big fan of swimming, the Back Beach is also “intense and calming” according to the windy season, which is a note for visitors to Vung Tau to swim in the sea. The Southern wind season is from April to October every year; the sea surface is very calm. However, in the North wind season which is from November to April, Back Beach has big waves and strong winds, and even vortexes on the sea surface, which is very dangerous. The rescue team of Back Beach is always on duty, ready and timely to rescue people in distress, but when you see the black flag, please do not compete with the sea.

It can be said that nature has given Vung Tau two invaluable gifts, Front Beach and Back Beach, which are also special gifts of Mother Nature to the whole South where there are a lot of rivers but very few beaches are suitable for swimming.
