To the end of 2010, this organization has issued certificates and supported export for 13 coffee production, trading units in the region with certified coffee volume of around 38,000 tons of green coffee (around 10% total green coffee production of DakLak province). The exported coffee with UTZ CERTIFIED certification gains a premium of 50 USD per ton on average. Till now, this has been regarded as the most effective and successful certifying program for coffee in Vietnam, bringing not only economic benefits to the coffee community but also their real actions for sustainable and responsible coffee production and business.Since 2007, the Common Code for Coffee Community (4C Code) applied for conventional coffee production and business has been carried out in Buon Ma Thuot coffee region with technical assistance of GTZ and consulting units such as EDE Asia Consultant, Cafecontrol, the participation of a number of local and foreign coffee export-import companies. According to the international trade center, 4C coffee produced in Vietnam appeared in the world market in 2007. To the end of 2010, 4C program was participated by 7 units with more than 13,000 hectares in Dak Lak province.In 2008, the certification programs of %u201cRainforest Alliance%u201d, %u201cFair trade%u201d have also been started in Buon Ma Thuot coffee region.In increasingly critical competition of the global coffee market, certified sustainable coffee production and trading might be the suitable strategy creating practical benefits for participating parties. With commitment and contribution of trading and industrial members in the global coffee chain, the coffee producers can reduce costs, increase the capability to access market, credits, enhance market transparency and get higher income by fairer redistribution of added values. Consumers also know clearly that they are enjoying quality coffee produced and traded in association with social and environmental responsibility.
