In the coffee production of Dak Lak Province, the increase in the area not only destroyed the plan to have impacts on the sustainable development but also resulted in many disadvantages such as: decline in cultivation land, degrading the soil quality, complicated climate change; the variations in coffee price, input materials of different types have directly impacted on the producers; such actual situations as the lack of drying yards, stores, processing equipments, especially labor for harvesting and processing coffee at the harvest etc. unsuitable organization of coffee production are main existed in small-scaled individual production enterprises because more than 85% of the coffee area of the province is directly managed and owned by the farmers; the application of the advanced technology in coffee production of the farmers is still limited, especially in coffee re-cultivation, new variety improvement, use of fertilizer, watering, plant protection etc. therefore, all these factors have contributed to the high production costs, potentials for lack of sustainability; the coffee production is not sustainable when the water source for coffee trees is not ensure in the general background of climate change which has increased the water source degradation which leads to the shortage of water for agricultural production, especially for coffee trees; coffee gardens are aging and the productivity is lower and lower, the area of the old coffee trees with low productivity and poor quality needs recultivating from 2013-2020 in Dak Lak province is 27,775 ha. In order to implement effectively the sustainable coffee development project in the future, and create the commodity industry with high competitiveness, there are orientations and fundamental methods as follows:Orientations:Area and output: Maintain the coffee area of the entire province of 190,000 ha with average output of 450,000 tons/year.
